How much does Botox cost?
A Botox Cosmetic treatment costs $445 on average in the United States and ranges from $325 to $710, according to CareCredit, published in July 2026. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons puts the average cost of botulinum toxin injections at $435, a surgeon-fee-only figure from its own annual statistics. Clinics price by the unit, so what you pay depends on how many areas are treated and how much product each one takes.

What changes the price
- How many units you need
- This is the whole pricing model. Deeper, more established lines take more product, and a first treatment is often lighter than a maintenance one.
- How many areas
- Forehead, frown lines and crows feet are priced separately. Treating all three is roughly the sum of the three, not a package rate, unless the clinic says otherwise.
- Who injects
- A board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist charges more than a medical spa. The product is the same; the assessment and the hand are not.
- Where the clinic is
- Metro pricing runs above the national average. The figures here are national.
- Per unit or per area
- Some clinics quote per unit and some per area. Per-unit pricing is easier to compare between clinics, so ask for that number.
How to pay less
- Ask the unit price, then the unit count
- Two clinics quoting the same treatment price can be using very different unit counts. Those two numbers make the quotes comparable.
- Treat fewer areas
- Most of the visible change from a first treatment comes from the strongest line. Starting with one area and reviewing is cheaper than treating everything at once.
- Use the manufacturer loyalty programme
- The makers of the main botulinum toxin brands run rebate schemes. They are free to join and they apply at most clinics that use the brand.
- Do not chase the cheapest vial
- Heavily discounted injectables are the one place in aesthetics where price and provenance are worth being suspicious about together.
Questions
How long does Botox last?
Commonly three to four months for cosmetic use, after which the muscle recovers its movement and the effect fades. That cadence is what makes it an ongoing cost rather than a one-off.
Is Botox covered by insurance?
Not for cosmetic use. It can be covered when prescribed for a medical condition such as chronic migraine or severe underarm sweating, which is a different billing code and a different conversation with your insurer.
Why is Botox cheaper at a medical spa?
Lower overheads and, often, a nurse injector rather than a physician. That is legal and common; what varies is who assesses you and who is on hand if something goes wrong.
What is "baby Botox"?
A lighter dose spread over the same areas, using fewer units for a subtler result. Since pricing is per unit, it costs proportionally less.
